Good morning!

While you were sleeping, the prediction market whales were busy. Here's what the smart money is betting on, plus today's top bond picks across sports, finance, politics, and tech.

News Briefing

The market’s current investment thesis is apparently "buy everything when the geopolitical map doesn't change." The S&P 500 ground out a 0.55% gain to close at 6,913.35 on Thursday, while the Nasdaq added 0.9%, driven largely by a collective sigh of relief that the U.S. is not, in fact, invading Greenland or tariffing Europe this week.

While clean energy stocks like FuelCell popped (~6%) on the realization they might survive the month, the real drama moved to Truth Social last night: Trump officially rescinded Canada’s invitation to his "Board of Peace," deciding that Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Davos speech was too "ungrateful" for a seat at the table.

So, to recap: inflation is tame at 2.8%, the trade war is paused, and Canada has been ghosted by the White House—which, in this market, counts as a bullish signal.

Market of the Day

Market of the Day

The Davos Pump: Elon Musk took the stage at the World Economic Forum yesterday and explicitly claimed that Tesla expects regulatory approval for FSD in both Europe and China as early as "next month" (February).

The Logic: Prediction markets love regulatory thaw. If the notoriously strict EU and complex Chinese regulators are about to greenlight the software (even the "supervised" version), traders are betting that the "Unsupervised" leap is technologically ready and legally imminent.

The "Autopilot" Kill Switch: Adding fuel to the fire, reports surfaced that Tesla is discontinuing the basic "Autopilot" feature to force-feed FSD adoption, signaling they are pushing all chips into the FSD basket ahead of a subscription-only pivot in February.
